Want to Get Connected at Little Chapel United Methodist Church?
Little Chapel United Methodist Church has a long and celebrated history of serving the cause of Christ in the Santos community. Early in the 1880’s a group of faithful saints recognized the need for a place of worship in the community of Santos. Subsequently, Santos Methodist Episcopal Church (North) was formed. A few years later the church changed its name in honor of Mr. Charlie Little who generously and unselfishly donated the land for this church to be built upon. The corner stone laying ceremony for Little Chapel Church took place on June 15, 1889, in Santos, Florida, under the auspices of the Methodist Episcopal Church (North.). We the members of Little Chapel United Methodist Church will forever be grateful to the faithful men and women for their vision, sacrifice, and contributions to our church and community.
There are many ways, and we'd like to help you find your path. From participating in Bible study or small groups, receiving support for a care need, to serving in the church or the community - we are interested in meeting you where you are, whether you have been a disciple of Christ all your life or have just begun exploring the faith. Church membership is open to any and all who seek the presence of God in their lives. Baptism is a requirement for membership. If you have not been baptized, please contact our pastor to schedule a personal pre-baptism counseling session. If you have been baptized in any denomination, you are free to join whenever your heart is called to do so.
How do I become a member?
You may become a member in one of the following ways:
oTransfer of Membership from another United Methodist Church—If you are currently an active member of another United Methodist Church, you may choose to have your membership transferred. We will ask if you will faithfully support this congregation with “your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service.”
oTransfer of Membership from another denomination--If you are currently an active member of another denomination, you may choose to have your membership dropped from their rolls and become a member here. We recognize all types of Christian baptism and will not require you to be re-baptized regardless of when and how old you were when you were baptized. We will ask you to be loyal to the United Methodist Church and to faithfully support this congregation with “your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service.”
oReaffirmation of Faith--If you have been baptized at some point in your life, but have not been actively involved in a church for quite some time, you may join by reaffirmation of your faith. We will ask you if you believe in Jesus Christ and if you will affirm your faith as found in both the old and New Testaments. We will then ask you to be loyal to the United Methodist Church and to faithfully support this congregation with “your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service.”
oConfession/Profession of Faith— If you have never been baptized and have never made a decision to express your commitment to Christ or never actually joined a church, you may join by confession of your faith and Christian baptism. If you have been baptized but have never joined a church or confirmed your faith, you may join by profession of faith.
